Summoning Her Gods
Artist
Graham Wallwork
Medium
Drawing - Pastel And Ink On European Paper
Description
This work seems to be a controversial picture about religion at first sight but is actually to do with a point on a distorted psychological basis of reality. The woman in the nuns outfit is not in fact a Nun...otherwise she would have additional details to her clothing. The cat is not real, nor is the moon. There are symbols in the floor consisting of small slabs of stone. The 'gods' she is summoning are a figment of her imagination...but all reality is?

Thank you for favoring this controversial Artwork (which has actually won two competitions) Mioara.

Thank you Derek…as the son of a Churchman I understand that, but the idea behind the work is that we all see an image through different eyes and therefore our reality is only an observation?

Intriguiging ART unique. The smoking Nun, an anamoly, so mind-boggling! and the details, cat 'alight'?, telling your 'story', as always....and me?, I am listening! And, 'imagining' the 'why' of this tale!/vision. Appreciate your "intent' : this IS so stimulating. Kudos, FAV...........VIVA

We all see things inside out and upside down. Great and I do mean great artwork. Gets me to think about a multitude of realities. The title and the description perfect Graham. F/L

Thank you LaVonne…yes, I wouldn’t create the artwork unless there was a story as for me it is what creates the artwork and I see myself as the conduit (the only ones that don’t are my commissions as the story there is created by the buyer?)

Thank you for favoring my artwork Stephen and although it looks to be a statement about religion, is more to do with nuns borrowing the style of their clothing from married women in the Middle Ages…but people can take it as they see it.
